Perfect Blackjack Review – Rules and Strategies

In a time when we celebrate diversity and praise uniqueness, definitions such as perfect are becoming more intangible than ever. So, what makes a perfect Blackjack, some might ask. Won’t the other blackjack games be offended? Well, certain sequences of events and universally accepted values defeat individual concepts, so there’s a pretty simple explanation here – in its essence, this is a standard Blackjack game with the option for a Perfect Pair side bet. This is one of the most common side bets offered in casinos around the world and is usually just an entertaining way to add some excitement to your typical Blackjack game.

Perfect Pairs can be found in other card games, too, like Baccarat, for example. It is a widely spread bet not just in brick and mortar casinos, but in online games as well. Since it’s placed on the first two cards dealt, there isn’t a very high probability of success, but that’s the fun about side bets – they bring high rewards to the players willing to take a risk and step out of their comfort zone. If you’d like to find out all about the intricacies of how the Perfect Pairs bet works, whether it’s a bet worth wagering, and what your chances of winning are, scroll down to read our review, as we discuss this type of Blackjack game in detail.

How to Achieve Perfection – the Rules of the Game

If you’re already familiar with the normal Blackjack rules, getting used to playing Perfect Blackjack is going to be zero hassle for you. It’s pretty standard stuff – the dealer always stands on soft 17 and the game can be played with 2 to 8 decks of 52 cards – nothing new here except the option to place a Perfect Pairs side bet. Of course, first you get to make your regular Blackjack bet and then decide whether to make a Perfect Pair bet or not. Then, the dealer will deal the first two rounds of cards – that’s two face-up cards for the player and one face-up and one face-down for the dealer. The Perfect Pairs wager is relevant only for the first two cards dealt, so it is at this point that you know whether you win or lose the side bet. You win for a mixed, coloured, or perfect pair, while the lack of any pair means the bet is lost. The dealer’s cards don’t influence in any way the outcome and the regular game carries on however the side bet scenario has played out.

The doubling options for Perfect Blackjack can vary depending on the casino where you’re playing. Some will allow players to double on any hand, while others don’t let you double on anything else besides 9 – 11. Another feature of the game that could be different across casinos is the insurance bet, as well as the peek option – some casinos feature it, while others don’t. One feature that you won’t find in any casino while playing Perfect Blackjack is the Surrender option. You can also decide to split cards, however a split Ace and a ten don’t count as a blackjack, just as 21. There are minimum and maximum bets for the perfect pairs which are separate from the bet for the regular game. The Perfect Pair bet has to be paid immediately after the initial deal. Then other standard Blackjack moves such as Hit, Split, or Double Down are allowed.

Diversify Your Gambling with Perfect Pairs

Perfect Pairs is a side bet and as such, it’s purely based on luck, so the odds to win here are not exactly on your side. If you opt for it during a standard eight-deck game, the chance of being dealt a perfect pair is 1.7%. It’s slightly higher for a coloured pair – 1.9%, and of course, the biggest probability is to draw a mixed pair – 3.9%. It’s pretty self-explanatory that your chances here are slim but if you do indeed get lucky, some casinos will pay you 30:1 for a perfect pair and 15:1 for a coloured pair. Admittedly, not a very sustainable strategy but definitely a fun twist to spice things up a bit.

Since rules may vary across different casinos, there is really no universal guide or a sure-fire strategy on how to win at Perfect Blackjack, mostly due to the fact that it’s predominantly based on chance. Luck plays an essential role, but still, you could rely on your previous experience and knowledge about standard Blackjack to develop your own approach, since regular Blackjack rules apply here as well, even if not exclusively. This game variant would probably be most appealing to players who rely on luck and intuition rather than strategies. The amazing 30:1 payout and house edge varying from 0.35% to 0.44% are great reasons to give it a go, whether you believe in luck or not.
